Single chainrings are obviously simple to use: no front derailleur, considerably less weight, fewer moving components that gather dirt and may cause blockages and better chain security with no useless overlapping chainrings – the perfect solution for gravel.
The two aluminum cranks are fitted with semi axles in AISI 630 steel, in line with the clever material combinations of the entire Ekar GT groupset, with a view to producing components that are always light but deliver maximum efficiency and durability.
New ProTech™ technology joins the two semi axles inside the bottom bracket, with a single sturdy screw. The oversize stainless steel bearing race is on the crank, fitted onto the semi axle for maximum smoothness and resistance – and to make it easy to access for inspection and maintenance without having to dismantle the cups.
There are five chainring options available: 36T, 38T, 40T, 42T, 44T. Their optimized design offers efficient transmission and maximum chain reliability.
The lightweight resistant chainrings in 7075 aluminum are easily interchangeable: simply unscrew them off the four arms of the crank with no need to dismantle the crankset. The four arms are arranged symmetrically for optimum load distribution and have a 104 mm bolt circle diameter. Changing the chainrings is a simple efficient way to change gear ratio while you tackle different kinds of terrain.
The Ekar GT crankset offers three crank length options – 170, 172.5 and 175 mm – to suit cyclists and bikes of all kinds. For some gravel bikes with low bottom brackets, the shorter cranks are used the most to avoid getting stuck on uneven unpredictable terrain.
A Q factor of 151 mm offers a comfortable efficient pedaling style, whatever your size.
